Pack the esky, crank up the tunes, and load the van – Australia’s top beaches for 2025 have just dropped, and they are screaming road trip. Whether you’re chasing surf, serenity or a selfie with a wallaby, we’ve got the lowdown on the best beaches to hit in a Wicked campervan.
No schedules. No boring hotels. Just you, the road, and a boot full of adventure.
Let’s roll…

1. Bay of Fires, TAS – Like Mars, but with better swimming
Fiery orange boulders, crystal-clear water, and white sand you could fry an egg on (don’t, though). Bay of Fires isn’t just a beach – it’s a whole damn coastline of magic.
Wicked Tip: Start in Launceston, grab supplies, and wind your way to the east coast. Park up at Cosy Corner and wake up to one of the best sunrises in the country.

2. Woolgoolga, NSW – Say it out loud, it’s fun
Just north of Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga (or “Woopi” if you’re in the know) has epic swells, laid-back vibes, and a massive Sikh community that serves up some of the best food on the coast.
Wicked Tip: Stay at the beachside holiday park and feast on samosas before hitting the surf. Camper + curry = life sorted.
3. Cape Tribulation, QLD – Where the jungle hits the sea (literally)
Up in Far North Queensland – deep in the Daintree Rainforest – Cape Trib is where two UNESCO World Heritage legends collide: the reef and the rainforest. Think Jurassic Park meets beach bum. Wild, untouched, and absolutely unforgettable.
Wicked Tip: You can drive your campervan up from Cairns (yep, all sealed roads now!), cross the Daintree River by ferry, and find some wicked campsites right in the heart of the jungle. No phone signal = no worries.

4. North Kirra Beach, QLD – Underrated Gold Coast gold
Skip the glitzy chaos of Surfers Paradise and head to North Kirra. Wide open sand, clean waves, and space to breathe? Yes please.
Wicked Tip: Camp nearby in Coolangatta and use North Kirra as your morning surf spot. It’s all the fun of the GC without the schoolies.
5. Little Lagoon, WA – Desert meets aqua dreams
Right outside Denham in WA’s Shark Bay region, Little Lagoon is a giant saltwater pool with views that’ll slap the stress right out of you.
Wicked Tip: Base yourself at Monkey Mia (dolphins, anyone?) and day trip to the lagoon. Sunset reflections here are pure magic.
6. Fishery Bay, SA – Remote, rugged, real
Down near Port Lincoln, Fishery Bay is a wave-rider’s haven and a solitude seeker’s paradise. Few crowds. Big swell. Serious beauty.
Wicked Tip: Drive around the Eyre Peninsula in a Wicked Camper for max wilderness vibes. Camp at one of the free spots along the coast and watch the stars put on a show.

7. 1770, QLD – Yep, that’s the name
Captain Cook landed here. And honestly, we get it – this beach is chef’s kiss. Calm waters, amazing sunsets, and a chill, retro town vibe.
Wicked Tip: Camp right by the marina and kayak the inlet. 1770 is also one of the northernmost spots to surf on the east coast before the reef kicks in. Bonus.
8. Scarborough Beach, WA – City beach with swagger
Scarbs is Perth’s beachside playground, with turquoise water, bars that pour hard, and enough sand to stretch out without getting a foot in your face.
Wicked Tip: Park it at one of the van-friendly spots around Trigg and cruise the coast. Scarborough sunsets hit different – camera ready?
9. Caves Beach, NSW – It’s got caves. Duh.
Just south of Newcastle, this one’s a dream for the curious – actual sea caves you can explore at low tide. Add golden sands and killer waves and you’ve got yourself a full day of awesome.
Wicked Tip: Rock up at Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park and make Caves your base. Bonus: you’re close enough to Lake Macquarie for a sneaky freshwater dip too.
10. Cowes Beach, VIC – Family vibes with penguin perks
Phillip Island’s Cowes Beach is calm, clean, and full of cute cafes. It’s perfect for paddling or just lying around doing absolutely nothing (which is a totally valid road trip activity, by the way).
Wicked Tip: Park up near the Penguin Parade and let the little tuxedo fellas strut past while you chill in your van like a wildlife documentary narrator.
